The ski bus stops just 40m from the chalet, so if you don't want to drive, you can simply forget about your car for the rest of your stay. You will love the fabulous views of Mont Chery and the mountains from the huge sunny terrace. Unwind in the hot tub and enjoy a sauna at the end of a long day on the slopes.

In the summer there's plenty of hiking and biking trails, and Chalet Joux Verde is just a 15-minute walk from the Lac Des Ecoles, where you can swim, play volleyball, try the pump track or play table tennis.

Les Gets has a good choice of restaurants, shops and bars, as well as a packed itinerary of entertainment in summer and winter. Enjoy Alta Lumina within walking distance of the chalet, an enchanted night walk beyond the mountains.

About the property...

Accommodation at Chalet Joux Verte is set over three floors. As you enter on the ground floor, you'll find two double bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower room and the other with a bathroom. There is a sauna with a shower room, a separate WC, and a utility room with a washing machine, dryer, second fridge and freezer.

After a day on the slopes, you will access the chalet via the garage, which contains boot warmers, a ski rack and plenty of hanging space. The children will love the small multi-sports table in here too!

The main living area is on the next floor. The modern kitchen has everything you need to rustle up a hearty meal after an energetic day in the mountains, including two ovens and a large hob on an island unit. An oval dining table with comfy leather chairs has plenty of room for you all to eat together.

A cosy L-shaped sofa is positioned to make the most of the views, or if you'd rather, get together to watch a film. There are plenty of cushions and throws as well as a fireplace, to make sure everyone is warm and cosy. There's room for three in the study area, just in case you need to catch up with some work while you're away.

Doors open from the living area onto the huge furnished terrace, which wraps around three sides of the house – there are lots of areas where you can soak up the sun, admire the fabulous views or perhaps enjoy a barbecue. Pétanque, badminton and croquet sets are provided for your enjoyment on the extensive lawns.

The mezzanine floor is perfect for children – the two bedrooms can be arranged with twin or kingsize beds, and there's a shared shower room. There's also a TV room under the eaves, with beanbag seats and room to play. It’s a great place for adults to hang out as well and watch a movie!

With the ski bus almost on your doorstep, and the village, pistes just 1km away from Chalet Joux Verte, you can forget about driving for the whole of your holiday,

Les Gets and the neighbouring resorts of Morzine and Avoriaz are in the heart of the Portes du Soleil, which has 12 resorts spanning the French/Swiss border. In fact, you can ski in to Switzerland, but be warned, only the most accomplished skiers should tackle the Swiss Wall – a huge mogul field which is classified as an orange route - too hazardous for a black! But with 650km of pistes, there is plenty of scope for skiers and boarders of all ages and abilities.

If you're not a skier, there's plenty going on in Les Gets, and the nearby resort of Morzine also offers indoor and outdoor ice skating rinks, which are often host to ice hockey matches, and the local cinema shows films in English.

The more adventurous might like to try snowmobiling or ice-climbing on some of the area's frozen waterfalls, or discover the area in a more sedate manner on a sleigh ride. Other ways to have fun include snowshoeing and sledging, while the Indiana adventure park in Morzine offers a variety of activities for all ages.

As spring comes to the Portes du Soleil, a whole new range of activities opens up to visitors. Lush green slopes replace the pistes, and the mountains become a haven for hikers, bikers and thrill-seekers. Take a picnic, and make a day of it! The lifts will transport you and your bike up the mountains, leaving you to come back down at your leisure.

Cool off with a dip at the Lac des Ecoles, where you can also try a multitude of sports or simply relax and enjoy a picnic on the grass.

For a change of scene, visit the nearby resorts of Morzine/Avoriaz or the village of Montriond and its lake, which is perfect for a gentle stroll and a picnic, or perhaps a bit of kayaking.

Les Gets and Morzine have earned the Famille Plus status for their excellent childcare and entertainment, so this area is a great choice for young families.

There are superb water parks in the town and in neighbouring Avoriaz, as well as two summer sledging runs, while the Indiana adventure park has a range of assault courses to suit all ages. Golfers will find excellent courses in Les Gets and Avoriaz.

Other activities in the area include climbing, rafting, via ferrata, canyoning, mini-golf, quad bikes, and fishing. If all this sounds like hard work, you could always just relax on the terrace, in the garden or unwind in the hot tub.
